I began working on “Post Partum” after the birth of my second daughter in May of 2008 as a means of exploring my experience as a repeat “new mother”. The title is not meant to represent any depressive state of mind, but the literal definition of after birth. “Post Partum” is an ongoing series of 35 mm photographs and mixed media pieces in which my friends transform from muse to character to indelible image.

I have combined elements of this work with street art stenciling, screen-printing, catch phrases and image repetition in my recent “offshoot” installation “We must look like we are in love”… a collaborative effort between myself and one of my “Post Partum” subjects, Erica Ann. The materials used in the work range from photographs, papers, canvas, gels and adhesives to acrylic paint, glitter, plexiglass, spray paint and stickers.
